A Research Project On Employee Turnover - 1954 Words

Introduction According to Krishnaswami Satyaprasad (2010), the selection of an issue or problem is the first step in business research. The first step in creating a problem statement is to select the discipline in which the potential problem lies (Krishnaswami Satyaprasad, 2010). For my business research project I chose the human resource area. Second, one must narrow the focus to a specific aspect of the selected area (Krishnaswami Satyaprasad, 2010). Employee turnover is something that I have first-hand experience with which I find to be interesting, therefore this is my area of focus. Appannaiah, Reddy Ramanath, (2010), state that after isolating the problem area one must proceed to develop and define the actual problem statement. In this paper I will first discuss three problem statements in articles I reviewed. After which I will develop a problem statement of m own based on journal articles and studies I have read thus far concerning the issue of employee turnover in the sp ecialization of human resource management. For the formulation of a problem Appannaiah et al. (2010), states that one needs to narrow down the focus from general to a more specific area without becoming too narrow. With this in mind I have chosen to narrow my focus to employee turnover in retail establishments. Couture Fashion’s Chinese Connection Free Essays

Executive summary In this case, there are two major problems that I can analyzed. Firstly, Kaki and Houdini which are two of major loyal customers of Couture Fashions Bad (HCI)’s were writing to Jeffrey to inform him that they may looking to China to â€Å"contract manufacture† for them as the prices there were very competitive. Second, the previous adverse perception of â€Å"Made in China† labels had slowly changed as China now manufactured clothes that are higher quality at substantially lower operating costs. We will write a custom essay sample on Couture Fashion’s Chinese Connection or any similar topic only for you Order Now There were some recommendation that are going to implemented which are raptors to expand to China, proposal to close down Hess factories in Malaysia and Thailand or manufacturing its own label for Malaysian and Sean market. Statement of Problems HCI may lose their big major loyal customers which is Kaki and Houdini as they may looking to China to â€Å"contract manufacture† for them as the prices there is cheaper. Apart from that, nowadays China was produce high quality product with cheaper price so then makes the perception of people about the â€Å"made in China† goods changed to a good view. This is because of the labor cost in China is cheaper rather Han Malaysia. HCI now is very confusing to make decision but based on the problems they have to make accurate decision. According to these problems they have to deeply make consideration of their short term and long terms decision. As far as I am concerned, the short term problem is HCI may lose their big major loyal customers which is Kaki and Houdini. For long term, they may face a very big loss and no wonder if their company will go for bankruptcy as Kaki and Houdini may become the benchmark for other customers that are rely on Hess company. Other customers may assume that HCI does not maintain its reputation and that is why Kaki and Houdini are quit from keep doing â€Å"contract manufacture† with HCI. As it shows a bad benchmark to other customer, it may cause other customers quit from HCI. As a decision, I agree if HCI still operate it existing company but doing Joint venture in China. Causes of problems There is some cause or problems that cause Kaki and Houdini may switch doing â€Å"contract manufacture† from HCI to China which is they can save their financial sources a lot as they will get cheaper supply from China rather than what was offered by HCI. Apart from that, in 1997 Malaysia had face economic downturn and fluctuation or currency exchange. Rather than buying with higher price, Kaki and Houdini may get some more loses in currency exchange. To make an accurate decision, I prefer HCI to use PESTLE theory. PESTLE is divided into six categories which are political, economic, social, technology, ecological, and legal. Based on political and legal, to build new factory in China is not an easy way as HCI have to get he permission from the government and also have to fully understand and follow the rules and regulation to incept new factory in China. So it may take a very long period to face all the procedures. In term of economic, HCI may get lack of financial resources to build new factory as not confirm can sell both of their existing companies. Even they can sell both it is still not enough to incur all the cost to build new factory in China. Based on social view, HCI may lose their specialist once they move to China as some of them may not want to leave Malaysia which is their country. To find new specialist in China is not easy and may incur a big cost as HCI have to train them well to become professional enough. Their current workers also may lose Job as they will be layoff if HCI close their current company and move to China. In term of ecological, by building new factory it may cause pollution to the environment, so it relates to the government policy, rules and regulations. HCI may build a factory but in rural area that may cause the shipping cost to send all the goods to its customer become higher. In addition, from technological view, I can see hat in China the technology is different from Malaysia, so HCI once again have to incur a big cost to train all the workers with new technology. Decision Criteria and Alternative Solutions Based on the problems and alternative solution, I am totally agree if HCI still continue its operation in Malaysia but in the same time doing Joint venture with any other strong and well known company in China. This is because by doing Joint venture HCI will not incur a lot of cost rather than doing Greenfield which is building a new factory there. Apart from that, by doing Joint venture OVA) with well-known company, it is easy for HCI to find new prospect of customers from China thus in the same time HCI can increase their customers. If HCI want to build new factory, it may incur a lot of cost and if HCI want to manufacture its own label for Malaysian and Sean market, it is hard to brand new label and incur a lot of cost too as they have to advertise it new label. Recommended Solution, Implementation and Justification As a conclusion, I am totally agree if Jeffery Echoing continue it operation in Malaysia UT in the same time doing Joint venture with strong and well known company in China. To ensure that HCI not lose their current big major loyal customers which is Kaki and Houdini, HCI have to as soon as possible doing Joint venture with China. By doing Joint venture, HCI can directly continue operation in China without need to comply with government policy, legal restriction and tax if they are build new factory. They Just continue follow the regulation of its Joint venture partner. Once again I am totally agree if HCI doing Joint venture and still continue its existing operation. What Was the Nazis Ideology in 1933 free essay sample

During the year 1933 delivered many speeches which were the key elements in Nazi Ideology, Including the power of the will, Struggle Violence and war, Social Darwinism and the master race, people’s community, National Socialism and anti democracy and a belief in dictatorship. All contributed to the Nazi’s Ideology. Nevertheless part of the Nazi’s appeal was based on their constant repetition of a number of simplistic ideas which found a receptive audience among many section of German society. But during the Ideology, one of the Nazi party’s main leading ideologists was Alfred Rosenberg; he was the writer of many nationalistic, anti-Semitic pamphlets. His writings included the 1930 book The Myth of the Twentieth Century which declared the existence of two opposing races: the Aryan race, creator of all values and culture, and the Jewish race, the agent of cultural corruption a viewpoint taken literally by Hitler and the Nazi. We will write a custom essay sample on What Was the Nazis Ideology in 1933? or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page He also fed Hitler ideas about the inferiority of Jews, which ultimately led to Hitler declaring that Germans represented a superior, Aryan Race. The Power of the will was key element in the Nazi’s ideology; because it presented them and Hitler as being a force for change in Germany. Power, strength and determination to succeed were qualities which Nazi propaganda claimed were personified by Hitler. The group of the Nazi’s and they movement which they led, presented an image of discipline, unity and coordination which would eliminate all opponents aside Struggle, Violence and War were at the heart of Nazi’s thinking and one of their actions. He claimed scientific justifications for his views on struggle and conflict. He thought struggle and conflict between races was necessary, part of the natural order of things. War he believed was inevitable because it promotes the strongest survivor and the weaker die out, which means the strongest can reconstruct German Society and to create a new German Reich. Coming on to Social Darwinism and the master race was the believe Hitler saw humanity as consisting of a hierarchy of races, with races such as the Jews, black people and Slavs being inferior races, while the Herrenvolk (master race) were the Aryan people of northern Europe. The Aryans were people with following (White people with Whine skin, blonde/brown/red hair, and blue/green/hazel eyes) were the master race. All the inferior races (Jews, blacks etc. ) must be killed as part of natural selection so the strongest survives. This is pretty much based on Darwins theory. He believed struggles between the races over resources were inevitable and that it was the destiny of the Aryans to rule over the inferior races. It was vital for them to maintain their racial purity; intermarriage and the mixing of the races would undermine the Aryans by polluting their blood with the Inferior races was the Racist idea of Hitler which was bought up in 1933. The Concept of People’s Community was Hitler’s believe that, Only Aryans could be citizens of the state; all the others were to be denied the rights of citizenship and the benefits that accrued from it and would be treated as mere ‘subjects’ of the state. Within the ‘real community of the people’ there would be no social classes and all Germans would have equal chances to find their own level in society. All would work together for the well being of the nation, demonstrating their commitment to common ‘German Values’, and in return would benefit from the access to employment and to welfare benefits. The Nazi’s thus aimed for a cultural and social revolution in Germany. The objective was to create a ‘new man’ and a ‘new woman’, individuals who would have awareness of the importance of race and soil, the strength of character to work unselfishly for the common good, and the willingness to follow the leadership in the pursuit of their aims. Yet this revolutionary ideology was essentially reactionary and backward looking. But yet The Nazis were very socialist and pro-community, they provided free healthcare, cheap transportation, worker rights etc. and were against a free market capitalism. As of a National Socialism, the Nazis adopted the title ‘National Socialist German Workers Party’ in an attempt to gain working-class support, but at the same time to differentiate themselves from the international socialism of the Communist Party. Increasingly after 1929 Hitler sought the support of wealthy businessman such as Hugenberg and Thyssen and was at pains to reassure them that a Nazi government would not threaten their interests. Hitler uses the word Socialism loosely in a way that might appeal to working-class voters. And lastly the ideology of Anti-Democracy and a belief in dictatorship concentrates on Hitler being set out to destroy the Weimar Republic because it was a parliamentary democracy, a system which he viewed as weak and ineffective and entirely at odds with Germany’s traditions of strong, authoritarian government. He also believed that parliamentary democracy encouraged the growth of communism, an even greater evil. Weimar democracy, established at the end of the First World War, was regarded by the Nazis as being based on a betrayal, in which the ‘November Criminals’ had stabbed the Germany army in the back. So to conclude The Nazis introduced many ideologies for the well being of Germany and their people. Their ideology was a perfect world. They thought that if you demolished all of the undesirables and the inferior people, there would remain perfection. This led to the killing of many Jews, and to the start of WWII. Most ideologies were accepted and respected such as the concept of people’s community where as some did get accepted but not respected such as Social Darwinism which separates the inferior races from Germany.

Chronology of the Ancestral Anasazi Pueblo People

Chronology of the Ancestral Anasazi Pueblo People The Anasazi (Ancestral Pueblo) chronology was broadly defined in 1927 by southwestern archaeologist Alfred V. Kidder, during one of the Pecos Conferences, the annual conference of southwestern archaeologists. This chronology is still used today, with minor changes within different subregions. Key Takeaways Anasazi has been renamed to Ancestral PuebloLocated in the Four Corners region of the U.S. southwest (intersection of the states of Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah)  Heyday between 750 and 1300 CEMajor settlements in Chaco Canyon and Mesa Verde   Archaeological remains of what archaeologists call the Ancestral Pueblo are found on the southern Colorado Plateau, the northern parts of the Rio Grande Valley and the mountainous Mogollon Rim in Colorado, Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico. A Name Change The term Anasazi is no longer in use by the archaeological community; scholars now call it the Ancestral Pueblo. That was in part at the request of modern pueblo people who are the descendants of the people who populated the American Southwest / Mexican Northwest- the Anasazi did not in any way disappear. In addition, after a hundred years of research, the concept of what was Anasazi had changed. It must be recalled that, like the Maya people, the Ancestral Pueblo people shared a lifestyle, cultural material, economics, and a religious and political system, they were never a unified state. Early Origins Cutaway illustrations of pre-pueblo pithouses, built by the Ancestral Pueblo people of Colorado. Dorling Kindersley / Getty Images People have lived in the Four Corners region for some 10,000 years; the earliest period associated with the beginnings of what would become Ancestral Pueblo is in the late archaic period. Southwestern Late Archaic (1500 BCE–200 CE): marks the end of the Archaic period (which started at around 5500 BCE). The Late Archaic in the Southwest is when the first appearance of domesticated plants in the American Southwest (Atl Atl Cave, Chaco Canyon)Basketmaker II (200–500 CE): People relied more on cultivated plants, such as maize, beans, and squash and began to construct pithouse villages. The end of this period saw the first appearance of pottery.Basketmaker III (500–750 CE): more sophisticated pottery, first great kivas are constructed, the introduction of bow and arrow in hunting (Shabikeshchee village, Chaco Canyon) Pithouse to Pueblo Transition Visitors walk through the ruins of a massive stone complex (Pueblo Bonito) at Chaco Culture National Historical Park in Northwestern New Mexico. The communal stone buildings were built between the mid-800s and 1100 AD by Ancient Pueblo Peoples (Anasazi) whose descendants are modern Southwest Indians. Robert Alexander / Archive Photos / Getty Images One important signal of development in Ancestral Pueblo groups occurred when above ground structures were built as residences. Subterranean and semi-subterranean pithouses were still being built, but they were typically used as kivas, meeting places for political and religious events. Pueblo I (750–900 CE): residential structures are built above ground, and masonry is added to the adobe constructions. In Chaco Canyon villages are now moving from the cliff tops to the bottom of the canyon. Settlements at Mesa Verde begin as large sedentary villages built into the cliffs with hundreds of residents; but by the 800s, the people living at Mesa Verde apparently leave and move to Chaco Canyon.Early Pueblo II- Bonito phase at Chaco Canyon (900–1000): increase in the number of villages. First multi-storied rooms constructed at Pueblo Bonito, Peà ±asco Blanco, and Una Vida in Chaco Canyon. Chaco becomes a socio-political center, where some individuals and groups hold a great deal of power, seen by architecture requiring organized labor, rich and unusual burials, and large scale flows of timber into the canyon.Pueblo II- Classic Bonito phase in Chaco Canyon (1000–1150): a period of major development in Chaco Canyon. Great house sites, such as Pueblo Bon ito, Peà ±asco Blanco, Pueblo del Arroyo, Pueblo Alto, Chetro Ketl reach now their final form. Irrigation and road systems are constructed. Decline of Chaco A trail leads visitors to Spruce Tree House ruins in Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado, built between 1211 and 1278 CE. This has been interpreted as a period of increased contact between Chacoan and Mesa Verde pueblo groups. By 1300, Chaco Canyon definitely declined  and then was abandoned.Pueblo IV and Pueblo V (1300–1600 and 1600–present): Chaco Canyon is abandoned, but other Ancestral Pueblo sites continue  Ã¢â‚¬â€¹to be occupied for few centuries. A Writers Bookshelf

A Writers Bookshelf A Writers Bookshelf A Writers Bookshelf By Sharon No-one knows it all, and as a writer I use several sources of research for my articles and ebooks. Aside from the resources I use to research particular topics, there are also several essential books I need related to the craft of writing. Here are the books on my bookshelf which I couldnt do without. Dictionary My top pick for this is the Collins English Dictionary. Its an easy to read, clear format. I used to use the Oxford English Dictionary. I switched to the Collins because I was already using their French and Spanish dictionaries, so when it was time to update, it seemed a good idea to complete the set. Another good option (especially if youre American) is the Merriam Webster Dictionary. I sometimes use the online version of MW if I need to check something when Im not at my desk. Thesaurus Many people rave about Rogets Thesaurus. I find that hard to use, so my favorite is the Merriam-Webster thesaurus. Thats because it is easy to find the words for which I want to find synonyms. Again, MW online is a good option when on the move. Usage Every now and then you need to use a word, punctuation mark or expression, and youre not quite sure how to use it correctly. When this happens, I have two main sources. Ive been using the Oxford Dictionary for Writers and Editors since I started in journalism, and its never let me down. For a more fun approach to usage, theres also a more recent book by R L Trask called Mind The Gaffe. Published by Penguin, its a guide to some common errors in English. Finally, although I dont use it every day, I also keep a copy of the Oxford Dictionary of English Etymology handy. Its always useful to be able to find the origin of a word or expression. Just call me a word nerd. 🙂 Want to improve your English in five minutes a day? Get a subscription and start receiving our writing tips and exercises daily! Keep learning! Operations Process and Projects, Assignment Questions Essay

Operations Process and Projects, Assignment Questions - Essay Example Nersesian (2002) defined operations management as the design, operation, and improvement of the system that create and delivers firms' products and service combinations. Moreover, it deals with the proper allocation of resources and the strategic acquisition of technology. Some managers contend that the external environment is too influential to be ignored. Therefore, operations management also includes the proper consideration of the outside entities as contributing agent that will eventually affect the performance of the firm. The external environment consists of the customers and other economic indicators that contribute to the success and failure of firms. The analysis of operations management is critical in the success of firms. Some practitioners have instituted organisations that specifically tackle issues concerning operations management. In the next discussion, manner in which IFS renovated its operations will be illustrated. It is interesting to examine the approaches used by IFS to address the current operational predicaments. Moreover, it is important to equate other processes that were excluded from the methods used by the company. IFS Limited is a manufacturing company primarily providing supplies for retail and other purposes. Although the company has continued to exist with relative success, recent setbacks have made the company revisit its operational procedures. In particular, clients have cited the lack of quality delivery provided by IFS. The specific complaints of the customers involve the failure to satisfy the delivery requirements in quantity. In addition, some clients have pointed that the company has failed to provide prior notices for failed orders. Furthermore, deliveries that were completed exceeded the agreed time causing delays in displaying the goods in retail outlets. It is indeed imperative to create a supply chain that allows more flexibility and eliminate the problems as identified by the consumers. Initially, the plan was to implement Agile Operations Initiative that secure top notch supply chain and will limit tendencies of tardiness in deliveries. The project has adapted advanced technologies and focused on communication as its core attribute.
